You've probably heard of caption contests, such as the one offered by The New Yorker Magazine, where a captionless cartoon is published and readers compete to write the winning gagline.

Maybe they should offer the opposite - Publish the gagline first, and then allow cartoonists to compete by sending in the most appropriate drawing.

We've all seen the famous 'Scream' painting by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1864-1944).

Man, artists like Munch, Dali and Escher just make it way too easy for us cartoonists.

Everyone has seen Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher's whacky woodcuts and lithographs. Mostly we know him for his optical illusions and impossible constructions which are mathematically inspired brain-busting marvels.




One thing Escher was not, however, was funny. If he had any sense of humor, I imagine he would have done stuff like this.




Additionaly, he was obviously a very insensitive fellow. I mean, come on, where's the Escher wheelchair ramp?

WALMART-Sells outrageously cheap crap to over-caffeinated people who spent all their money on 5 dollar lattes.



STARBUCKS-Sells outrageously expensive coffee to people who have lots of extra cash after buying cheap crap at Walmart.

After 7 years of injury free cartooning, I nearly sliced my finger off while trying to cut a piece of bristol, hence the following cartoon.



I just finished watching the first season of Showtime's 'Dexter', which is about a serial killer, so it seems slicing and dicing of human flesh is on my brain lately.
